How Pengo pricing works
A free plan, per-person tiers with discounted extra people, included AI conversations on Starter through Business, and Plus for unlimited AI on your own key.

We changed Pengo’s pricing in October 2026. This post is the plain-language version of what you pay and why.
A free plan that is actually usable
Free covers one person and one website with 50 conversations a month and 30 days of history. No card, no time limit. It is enough to put live chat on a site and see if you like it.
People on your team, with a discount for growth
Paid plans charge per person. The first person is the plan price, and every extra person costs less:
- Starter: $29 for the first person, $19 for each extra, up to 3 people
- Team: $59 for the first person, $39 for each extra
- Business: $119 for the first person, $79 for each extra
- Plus: $149 for the first person, $99 for each extra (unlimited AI on your own key)
Your bill updates automatically when someone joins or leaves, prorated, so you never pick a headcount. Annual billing saves about 17%.
AI included, top-ups, or Plus
The AI agent, copilot and summaries are on Starter (~100 AI conversations a month), Team (~500) and Business (~1,500). Need more? Buy a $10 to $100 top-up that never expires (an average conversation costs about 2 cents), or turn on auto-recharge with a monthly cap. When the allowance runs out and you have no top-up, AI pauses and human chat keeps working. There is no overage billing.
For unlimited volume on your own provider account, choose Plus. Connect your OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key — Pengo adds no markup and your provider bills you. Plus has no included allowance; it is built for teams that already run AI at scale.

Team comes with a 14-day trial, AI included, and no card needed to start. If you do not add a card, you drop back to Free.
Why this model
Per-resolution pricing makes your bill unpredictable, and hidden AI markups make it hard to trust. We would rather charge for people you can count, show a clear conversation allowance on each plan, and offer Plus when you want unlimited AI on your key.
