No code. Paste your key in Intelligence settings and your AI runs on your own account.
Step What happens
1. Upgrade to Plus Plus is $149 per person per month ($125 annual). Unlimited people, same Business feature set.
2. Pick a provider Choose OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini in Intelligence settings.
3. Paste your key Pengo tests it on save and encrypts it before it is stored. Only the last four characters are ever shown.
4. Choose a model Use the provider's fast model for everyday replies or a stronger one for harder questions.
5. Done The agent, copilot and summaries run on your account. Your provider bills you for the AI.

For scale: per-resolution AI pricing elsewhere can approach a dollar for every resolved conversation. Pengo AI is included in your plan as AI credits (a standard AI reply uses about 1, at your provider's cost), add-ons cover anything beyond it, and with your own key you pay just your provider's rate.

Your key stays yours
Treated like any other secret in your stack.
Control How it works
Encrypted at rest Keys are encrypted with a server-side secret before they touch the database.
Never shown again After saving, the dashboard shows only the last four characters.
Workspace-scoped A key belongs to one workspace and is only used for that workspace's AI.
Remove anytime Disconnect your key in settings. On Plus, AI stays paused until a valid key is connected.

BYOK FAQ
Which plans support your own AI key?
Plus and Enterprise. Starter, Team and Business use their included AI credits and add-ons. Connect a new key on Plus from Intelligence settings.
Do you charge anything on top of my provider bill?
No. On Plus, OpenAI, Anthropic or Google bill you for the AI at their rates. You pay your normal Pengo Plus subscription for the product.
What if my key hits a limit or fails?
You see the failure in the dashboard and AI replies pause until it is fixed. To keep answering meanwhile, turn on Use my remaining AI credits if my key fails and add an AI credit add-on in Billing. Otherwise fix the key or switch models in your provider account.
How is Plus different from Team or Business?
Starter, Team and Business include monthly AI credits and optional add-ons. Plus has no included credits: unlimited AI runs entirely on your key and your provider bill.
Is my key safe?
Keys are encrypted before storage, are never shown in full after saving, and are used only for your workspace's AI requests.
Can I switch back to a plan with AI credits?
Yes. Change plans in Billing. Disconnect your key if you move off Plus. Workspaces that connected a key before this split may still manage an existing key on lower tiers — new connections require Plus.
How do I estimate my provider cost?
A typical AI conversation costs a few cents depending on the model. Your provider dashboard shows exact usage, and Billing in Pengo shows the estimated cost on your key by feature.
